The University of Manchester has launched applications for its highly anticipated MA in Political Economy program, inviting prospective Indian students to apply for the upcoming 2024 session. This interdisciplinary program, administered by the Centre for the Study of Political Economy within the Faculty of Humanities, offers a comprehensive curriculum focusing on key aspects of political economy.

Course Highlights:

  • Offered by the Centre for the Study of Political Economy, leveraging faculty expertise from diverse departments including the School of Social Sciences, the School of Environment and Development, and the Alliance Manchester Business School.
  • Curriculum integrates courses from various disciplines to provide a holistic understanding of political economy topics.
  • Core unit “Theoretical Approaches to Political Economy” covers classical and modern theories essential to the field.
  • Degree awarded upon completion: Master of Arts (MA), with a duration of one year.

Entry Requirements:

  • Candidates must hold a minimum of a three-year bachelor’s degree with a First Class (60%-80%) from a recognized university.
  • Emphasis on both academic performance and the reputation of the institution where the qualification was obtained.
  • English language proficiency requirements: IELTS Academic 7.0 overall (minimum 6.5 in writing), TOEFL IBT 100 (minimum 25 in writing), PTE 76 (minimum 76 in writing), or equivalent scores.
  • Pre-sessional English courses available for applicants who need to meet language requirements.

Tuition Fee:

  • £27,500 per annum.

  • Manchester Humanities International Excellence Scholarship: Recognizes outstanding applicants.
  • Humanities Bicentenary Postgraduate Scholarship: Offers a £10,000 fee reduction for Indian students based on academic merit and personal profile.
  • Manchester Alumni Scholarship Scheme: Provides a £3,000 fee reduction for Manchester alumni who achieved a first-class bachelor’s degree within the last three years and are progressing to postgraduate study.
  • Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships Plan (CSFP) General Scholarship also available.
