Schengen Visa Fees to Increase Starting June 2024

May 25, 2024

Brussels, May 25, 2024 — The European Commission has announced a forthcoming increase in short stay Schengen visa fees, set to take effect on June 11, 2024. The adjustment will see the cost of visa type C, which permits non-EU nationals to visit Schengen countries for short stays, rise by 12 percent.

Under the new fee structure, adults will be required to pay 90 euros, up from the current rate of 80 euros. For children aged 6 to below 12 years, the fee will increase from 40 euros to 45 euros. These changes will apply uniformly worldwide.

A Schengen visa grants non-EU nationals the ability to travel within the Schengen area for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This visa allows holders to visit multiple Schengen states on the same trip, provided the visa is valid.

In related advice, travelers visiting several Schengen countries for equal stays should apply at the consulate of the first country they plan to visit.

This fee adjustment underscores the European Union’s ongoing efforts to manage and streamline its visa processes amid increasing travel demands. Travelers are advised to plan accordingly and ensure they are prepared for the updated fees when applying for their visas post-June 11.
