Israeli hi-tech firm Launches First Wireless Charging Road In Norway

Jul 1, 2024

In a pioneering move towards sustainable transportation, Electreon Wireless, an Israeli hi-tech firm, has installed Norway’s debut wireless charging road in Trondheim. This innovative infrastructure allows electric buses to charge while in motion, using specially designed copper coils beneath the road surface.

The 100-meter-long pilot project, backed by the Norwegian government with a budget of 22.4 million Norwegian kroner (about 2.12 million US dollars), aims to assess the system’s viability in harsh winter conditions typical of Trondheim.

Three electric buses from Yutong and one from Higer will undergo rigorous testing to determine if the wireless system can sustain uninterrupted operation throughout the day, potentially eliminating the need for traditional charging stops and reducing carbon emissions.

If successful, this initiative could revolutionize urban transport by providing a sustainable solution to energy consumption. Stay tuned for updates as Norway leads the way in green technology and Electreon Wireless pioneers the future of electric vehicle infrastructure.
