Germany Fast-Tracks Visa Applications for Indian Nationals Amid Growing Demand for Skilled Workers

Germany is urgently seeking skilled workers, prompting a significant reduction in visa processing times for Indian nationals. According to Schengen News, the waiting period for Indian visa applicants has been slashed to just two weeks. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock emphasized the importance of this move, stating, “The Federal Agency for Foreign Affairs is the biggest visa office for national visas worldwide already today. And we urgently need skilled workers here who can continue to support this.”

In the first half of 2024, Germany issued 80,000 employment-related visas, with 50% granted to skilled workers. This marks an increase of 3,000 visas compared to the same period in 2023, reflecting the country’s intensified efforts to attract foreign talent.
