Eye drops to replace reading glasses; Gets DCGI Approval

The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has granted final approval for ENTOD Pharmaceuticals’ PresVu eye drops, designed to reduce dependency on reading glasses for those with presbyopia, an age-related vision condition commonly affecting individuals over 40.

Following a recommendation from the Subject Expert Committee (SEC) of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), the approval marks a significant advancement in eye care.

PresVu is currently seeking a patent for its unique formulation and process. The eye drops not only help users avoid reading glasses but also offer the added benefit of lubricating the eyes. This is achieved through advanced dynamic buffer technology that quickly adapts to tear pH, ensuring consistent efficacy and safety for long-term use.

Presbyopia is a natural part of ageing where the eye’s ability to focus on close objects diminishes. It significantly impacts daily activities, often first noticed when individuals struggle to read up close without holding materials at arm’s length.

Nikkhil K. Masurkar, CEO of ENTOD Pharmaceuticals, stated, “DCGI approval is a major step forward in our mission to transform eye care in India. PresVu stands to improve the lives of millions by offering them greater visual independence.”
