Apple Supplier Jabil to Invest ₹2,000 Crore in New Plant in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has announced a significant investment boost for the state with Apple supplier Jabil committing ₹2,000 crore to establish an electronics manufacturing plant in Tiruchirapalli. This investment is expected to create 5,000 jobs and develop a new cluster for electronics manufacturing in the region, marking a major step in Tamil Nadu’s industrial growth.

The agreement with Jabil, which also supplies to tech giants like Cisco and HP, was signed on September 10 in the presence of Chief Minister Stalin during his visit to the United States. With this investment, Tamil Nadu will now host all major Apple suppliers, including Foxconn, Pegatron, Tata Electronics, and Jabil, further cementing the state’s position as a key hub for electronics manufacturing in India.

Chief Minister Stalin highlighted that Jabil’s investment is among the key successes of his government in attracting industrial investments to Tamil Nadu, showcasing the state’s conducive business environment and strategic focus on the electronics sector.

Additionally, Stalin announced that Rockwell Automation will be expanding its manufacturing operations in Kanchipuram with an investment of ₹666 crore, which will generate 365 new jobs. This expansion further underscores Tamil Nadu’s appeal as a destination for manufacturing and industrial development.

In another significant development, an MoU was signed with Autodesk aimed at skilling the youth and supporting the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and startups in the state. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader strategy to empower the local workforce and boost the state’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

These investments and collaborations are expected to drive Tamil Nadu’s industrial progress, create thousands of jobs, and strengthen the state’s position as a leading destination for electronics and manufacturing industries in India.
