In a significant update for Gmail users, Google has announced that the highly anticipated ‘Help Me Write’ feature will soon be available on the web version of Gmail. Initially introduced at last year’s Google I/O conference and rolled out to the Gmail app earlier this year, this feature aims to enhance email communication by allowing users to formalize, elaborate, or shorten their messages.
Starting soon, users will see the ‘Help Me Write’ shortcut appear in the body of an empty email draft on the web. This addition comes as a relief to many users who were disappointed by the feature’s initial absence on the web interface.
In addition to ‘Help Me Write,’ Google is also introducing a new ‘Polish’ shortcut, designed to refine email drafts containing 12 or more words. Users can activate this feature on the web by pressing Ctrl+H. For mobile users, particularly on the Gmail Android app, swiping on the shortcut text will display a more polished version of their drafts. This feature was previously known as ‘Refine my draft.’
Both features will be automatically available to Google Workspace customers with the Gemini Business and Enterprise add-ons, Gemini Education add-ons, and Google One AI Premium subscribers. Google has indicated that the rollout may take up to 15 days to reach all users.
With these updates, Google continues to enhance the Gmail experience, making it easier for users to communicate effectively and efficiently. Keep an eye out for these features in your Gmail interface in the coming weeks!
